Biographies:
Kathryn McCormack-Chen, LCSW, RN, LSATP
With over 20 years of experience, Kathryn's unique combination of both medical training and treatment of the mentally ill bring an excellent array
of knowledge, skills, and abilities to the field of care management.
She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Registered Nurse, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner
and Substance Abuse Intervention Specialist. Kathryn is a Facilitator
and Trainer for the Traumatic Incident Reduction Association and a member of the
International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and the
National Association of Social Workers.
Kathryn serves her community as a member of the Loudoun Medical Reserve Corps. She is a published author and lectures and consults throughout the Metropolitan area. She has
taught at undergraduate and graduate levels and is currently Adjunct Professor at University of the District of Columbia.
Tina Earman, CSAC
Tina is a clinician with a background in chemical dependency treatment, is a member of Case Management Society of America, and has over ten years experience in chronic illness case management. She has specialized skill with the intensive case management needs of Oncology patients including patient education, physician liaison, medication management and end-of-life care coordination. She has extensive experience with navigating Social Security Disability, Medicaid and private patient assistance programs.
Ben Thomas, M.Ed., CSAC
Ben has over 20 years of counseling experience in the fields of substance abuse and mental health. He is a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a CENAPS trained Advanced Certified Relapse Prevention Specialist. He has a Masters Degree of Education: Counseling and Development from George Mason University. His range of expertise includes assessment, patient placement, client and family education, dual diagnosis and relapse prevention. He has experience working with challenging populations such as individuals with Opioid Dependence and young adults. Ben is very familiar with providing counseling to recovering individuals also receiving office based opioid treatment (Suboxone maintenance) for narcotic addiction. He has been successful applying client centered and strength based interventions for these populations.
Mary Lou Shehadi, Certified Personal Trainer
Mary Lou, of Handheld Health & Fitness, is a certified personal trainer and has been in the health and fitness industry for 15 years. Mary Lou specializes in working with obese individuals, seniors and those new to exercise. Through her education and experience, Mary Lou has the knowledge needed to obtain optimum results from her clients. Her dedication is displayed by her patience and guidance with those she works with - working hard together to achieve set goals. She has the compassion and understanding to realize that there are many reasons for obesity beyond overeating.
